Charlene F. Chance, 86, a longtime resident of Findlay, IL passed with peace and grace on Monday, September 12, 2022, in the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, IL.
Charlene was born on April 25, 1936, in Decatur, the daughter of Laurence and Velma “Babe” (Greenslate) Wiles. She was a 1954 graduate of Decatur High School. Charlene and James Oscar Chance were united in marriage on July 13, 1974 and were blessed with 22 years of marriage before his passing on April 21, 1997. Charlene dedicated her life to the Lord, her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When not tending to her loved ones, she was a volunteer EMT with the Findlay Ambulance Service for many years and a longtime member of the Sullivan Church of God.
She leaves behind her children: Don (Gail) Plunkett of Findlay, Jim (Glenda) Plunkett of Findlay, Terry (Tammy) Chance of MO, John (Tammy) Chance of Sullivan and Bob (Christina) Chance of Plainfield; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters: Sandy (Bob) Goodman of Phoenix, AZ and Sherri Paxton of Indianapolis, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James and brother, Donnie Wiles.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Evangelist Gail Anita Plunkett officiating. Burial will take place in the Findlay Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to the Clarence Bixler Post 409 Auxiliary of Findlay or the Sullivan Church of God and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.
