Owen Mitchel Giertz, infant son of Benjamin Andrew and Kaurie Jessica Lindenmeyer Giertz, passed away at 1:55 a.m. Sunday, February 25, 2018, in St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, in Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg, IL with Rev. Michael Mohr officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to March of Dimes. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.
Owen was born on November 17, 2017, in Champaign, IL.
He is survived by his parents, Ben and Kaurie Giertz of Effingham, IL; brother, Preston Allen Giertz of Effingham, IL; paternal grandmother, Holly Giertz of Strasburg, IL; maternal grandparents, Mitch and Michele Lindenmeyer of Champaign, IL; maternal great grandparents, Brenda Lindenmeyer and Byron and Chlora Little all of Arcola, IL; paternal aunts and uncles, Tonya Dunn (Ed) of St. Joseph, IL, Matthew Giertz (Liz) of West Virginia, Amy Bye (Jason) of Peoria, IL, Mark Giertz (Jenni) of Seneca, IL, Luke Giertz (Kendra) of Hopedale, IL and Joni Giertz of Strasburg, IL; and maternal uncles, Jordan Lindenmeyer (Heather) of Mahomet, IL and Jaryd Lindenmeyer (Kelsey) of Champaign, IL.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Steve Giertz; paternal great-grandparents, Rev. Marvin and Paula Kammrath and Herman and Wanda Giertz; and maternal great-grandfather, Dee Lindenmeyer.
