Donald Lewis Scoles, 77, of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 7:25 P.M., Wednesday, June 6, 2018, in the Heartland Christian Village of Neoga, Illinois.

Don was born October 24, 1940, in Neoga, Illinois, the son of Otis and Florence (Boldt) Scoles. He served in the United States Army from May 1960 to May 1963. Don married Phyllis R. Knackmus, June 15, 1969, in Neoga, Illinois. Don was a former employee of the First Mid-Illinois Bank, (formerly Cumberland Co. National Bank) of Neoga, for twenty-five years. He was a retired Security Guard for the Allied Barton Security Company. Don was a member of the Toledo Masonic Lodge # 834, of Toledo, IL, Ansar Shrine, Valley of Danville, Low 12 Club, Historical Lodge, I.O.O.F., a former Board member of the Cumberland County Life Center.

Don was an avid Cub fan and he enjoyed reading, watching Television, going to the truck stop for coffee and breakfast with the “Acts” group. He leaves his wife, Phyllis R. Scoles of Neoga, Illinois; three nephews, Gary (Belinda) Scoles of Coco Beach, Florida, Greg (Pam) Scoles of Pekin, Illinois and Glenn Scoles of Springfield, Illinois and his friend Ramona of Pawnee, Illinois; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Scoles was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Max and Carl Scoles.

Memorials may be made to the Cumberland County Life Center, Toledo Masonic Lodge # 834, of Toledo, Illinois, or Heartland Christian Village Auxiliary of Neoga, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 11, 2018, in the First Christian Church of Neoga, Illinois, with Pastor Mel Workman and Rev. Richard Coen officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, June 10, 2018, in the First Christian Church of Neoga, with a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, conducted by the Toledo Masonic Lodge # 834. Also, there will be a one hour visitation before services on Monday, at the church. Burial will be in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery with Military Services conducted by the Votaw-Swank Post # 458, of Neoga, Illinois. Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga is in charge of arrangements.
